Review.
From February 28 to March 11, students from all academies had the opportunity to participate in Short Term Workshop at the HfBK Dresden. Dresden marked the starting point for the second exchange in this form. Afterwards the exchange continued to the Latvian Academy in Riga (28.03. – 08.04.22), via the Hungarian Academy of Arts in Budapest (11. – 22.04.22) to the Roman Academy, which will hold its workshops from 06. to 17. June in Rome.
In the first week of the course “Figure in Space – Painting Techniques as the Impetus for Visual Ex-pression”, under the direction of Maja Drachsel (painting technique) and Felix Lippmann (orientation phase), the first studies of figurative painting were tried out on large-format paper. With the help of life-size dolls, figurative situations were staged, which the course participants painted. The aim was to support the development of a pictorial space.
In the second week, the participants painted from a model. Different backgrounds and colors were used. In addition, the students were instructed to build and prime their canvases themselves. They also made their own casein tempera paints.
In addition, a visit to the Dresden State Art Collections was on the agenda, in order to gain an insight into figurative painting and the associated handling of pictorial spaces in painting at that time.
